Aloha! It's time again for an Amazing! Comic Con Aloha takeover of The AM Mayhem. This time around, our first conversation is with Sam Campos. He's forged a DIY path for comic book creators in Hawaii as the creator of Pineapple Man and now he's helping creators bring their books to the convention. He's brought a couple of his students from his Kaaawasaki Art Lab, known as The Left Handed Dragons. All three of these talents have new issues debuting at the convention this year, so be sure to stop by their booth to check them out!
Aloha! Thanks for tuning in to another episode of Locally Sourced. Many of the people we talk to art creative types - artists and performers, but they all find themselves needing something extra to take their hobby to the next level. They need to be entrepreneurs. It's in that spirit we're talking to Aga and Ursula from emPOW-HER, a group dedicated to helping women entrepreneurs kick start or level up their side hustle or main business venture. Give a listen if you're looking for a new way to approach applying your passion to a business world.
On this Locally Sourced we've got Chad from Crappy Kids. You've probably seen his adorable smiling poops (can't believe I just wrote that) on shirts, stickers, and more over the past 10 years of the brand. He and Haz-Matt talk about the brand's origin; how it shows off his fandom, humor, and philosophies; and how all of that lives on social media. Up-and-coming marketers and influencers should definitely take notes. Thanks for listening!
This time around, Haz-Matt talks to Jimmy Sparrow! Maybe you've seen him cosplaying Jack Sparrow or Goku at one of the local Conventions, or maybe you've stopped by his booth to pick up some of his prints, stickers, and more. He's a multi-talented figure in the local fan community, so we're talking all about costuming, graphic design, and what keeps him busy and inspired. Don't forget to check out his sites to pick up some of his art and support!
This time around on Locally Sourced, Haz-Matt talks to Davin, the founder/owner/operator of Snack Addicted. You may be familiar with their beef chips thanks to appearances at various conventions, retail pop-ups, and beer festivals! They also have their own store you can visit top pick up snacks and merchandise. Davin believes in quality products and giving back, which both come through in the interview. Find out how an act of kindness help create the business and how Davin continues to pay it forward. Also, stay tuned for a talk with Jimmy Sparrow, Snack Addicted's graphic designer who's also known for his geek crafts and cosplay.
Haz-Matt completely geeks out in this talk with voice actor Rob Paulsen. His career as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, a Warner Brother, a demented lab mouse, ANOTHER Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, and all points between has made him a part of most people's childhood and entertainment history. He's still going strong today even after a throat cancer diagnosis and treatment. He and Haz-Matt talk about all this and more, so thanks for giving it a listen!
Haz-Matt talks to the creators of Geek Craft Expo Hawaii! Kim and Daniel Way are no strangers to geeky conventions and are bringing their "etsy-meets-comic-con" event to the Hawaii Convention Center October 12-13, 2019. It's a celebration of self-made passion projects from creators just like you - everything that #LocallySourced is all about!
